Veterinary Assistants

Our Veterinary Assistants, are the core of our staff and play crucial roles in patient care and client services.  You will meet our veterinary assistants at each visit with your pet.  They will gather initial medical history, take your pet's vital signs, and share important information with you on wellness care.  They also administer vaccines, give dewormers, perform nail trims, and suture removals.  If your pet has stayed with us for a procedure or because of an illness, one of our veterinary assistants will review essential home care instructions with you and show you how to continue care for your pet at home.  Behind the scenes, our veterinary assistants assist the Doctors and Technicians with treatments, tests, and procedures and ensure that our patients are kept clean and comfortable at all times.  Our veterinary assistants are all devoted animal lovers and participate in continuing education to further develop their knowledge and skills.

Meghanne has worked with animals since 2010 and has loved every minute of it. She is our Client/Patient Supervisor, as well as working as a Veterinary Assistant, and a Client Services Provider.  She has two cats, BC and Hobbes, and 3 dogs, Colby James, Charlie and Snoopy.  She is working towards taking her veterinary technician's board exam next year. When she's not working she is spending time with her boyfriend and daughter, and doing anything outdoors.

Nick came to us as a Veterinary Assistant extern and then joined us as a Veterinary Assistant. Though he plans to eventually return to school to become a veterinary technician, he is very excited to be working in the veterinary field, and honored to be part of an AAHA accredited hospital. He practices less-is-more restraint and shows great compassion to every patient. He also rescued a little kitten while working here, found on I-405, aptly named Freeway.

Kayla is our newest Veterinary Assistant. She is also a PIMA graduate of the Assistant certification program. She is liking her new team at Sunset Pet Hospital very well, and having a blast in the veterinary field! She has always had a passion for animals, and works very well with our patients.
